Text Free Texas scholarship program.

(Houston, TX) The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is once again sponsoring its annual Text Free Texas Scholarship Contest for local high school students who pledge not to text while driving. Students from four local schools are invited to participate. The student who writes the best pledge from each high school will receive a $250 scholarship. This is the fifth consecutive year that the firm has sponsored the program.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. At Abraham Watkins, we have seen the devastating consequences of distracted driving. The most common cause of these type of accidents is the use of cellphones, specifically for texting, emailing, social media, and surfing the web. While we encourage all drivers to personally pledge not to text while driving, the purpose of the Text Free Texas Scholarship Contest is to raise awareness of the dangers of texting while driving, especially for teen drivers.

This year’s Text Free Texas (#TxtFreeTX) scholarship program is available to high school students (grades 10 through 12) from the following schools:

  • Bellaire High School
  • Northside High School
  • Westbury High School
  • Wisdom High School

The scholarship recipients will be announced the first week of May.

To Enter the Scholarship Contest.

To enter, students must write a pledge of up to 250 words that explains why they are committing to not texting while driving. Students can submit their pledges through the firm’s s Facebook page or by emailing the law firm.

Take the pledge. Save a life. Save your own life. Help us make this a Text Free Texas. #TxtFreeTX
