Two College Students Killed by 18-Wheeler in Corrigan, Texas

Two Stephen F. Austin students were killed by an 18-wheeler in Corrigan, Texas, on January 20, 2023. According to reports, the students, Micah McAfoose and Graylan Spring, were traveling southbound on US Highway 59 in a Nissan Versa in Corrigan, Texas. Simultaneously, Antonio L. Sandoval, Jr. was driving a Freightliner and traveling eastbound on Plant Road and approaching US Highway 59.

According to the Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Report created by investigating officers, Sandoval pulled in front of the student onto US Highway 59 to access the northbound lanes. At that time, the students crashed into the trailer of the 18-wheeler at high speed. The Crash Report alleges Sandoval failed to yield the right of way to the students.

McAfoose died at the scene of the Incident. Spring was rushed to a hospital, but died the following day.
