
In 2019, at approximately 3:00 in the morning, David Sollars, then 54-years-old, was working as a painter during a resurfacing and repaving project. Unfortunately, he was struck by a motorist. It was alleged that the company was responsible for work zone safety. More specifically, it was contended that the lane in which Mr. Sollars was struck should have been blocked off by an electronic arrow board, along with the orange barrels. The jury found the construction company, Perk Co., was in fact liable for Mr. Sollars death and awarded $17 million.
