WOMAN HIT BY VEHICLE WHILE WALKING TO SCHOOL – DRIVER FLED SCENE

On October 24, 2022, an 18-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while walking to Benjamin Davis High School in North Harris County at 7:00 a.m. After striking the woman, the driver fled the scene and crashed moments later in a ditch. Whether the driver was speeding at the time of the incident is still unclear. However, responding authorities to the incident report the crash happened in an active school zone.

The victim was later identified as Julyssa Roaro, a senior at Benjamin David High School, who was walking with her younger brother to school that morning. Following the collision, Ms. Roaro was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities investigating the collision were later able to identify the suspect as Daniel Carcamo who was later taken into custody and will likely face charges for felony hit and run and failure to stop and render aid while operating a motor vehicle.
