Multiple crews responded to an explosion at a commercial facility located in the 5400 block of Wilbarger Street in Fort Worth, Texas. Officials stated that the explosion occurred on August 30, 2022, at about noon. According to the Fort Worth Fire Department (“FWFD”), the incident resulted from an industrial accident with a fire. The FWFD also announced that its hazardous materials team was on the scene with fire investigators to determine if there were environmental issues and the cause of the explosion.

The explosion injured at least one person, who was flown by CareFlite, an air medical transportation company, to Parkland Hospital, which has one of the largest civilian burn units in the nation. Firefighters hosed down the area and used absorbent pads in an attempt to keep chemical runoff from entering nearby drainage systems. Nearly 600,000 acres of land have burned across Texas in 2022.
