Violent crash leaves 1 dead and 2 minors severely injured in liberty county

Texas Department of Public Safety officials advised of an incident involving a 2008 KIA Sorrento, a 2005 Peterbilt semi-trailer, and a 2015 Peterbilt semi-truck near the Cleveland Municipal Airport in Liberty County, Texas. Officials stated that the crash, which involved two 18-wheelers, resulted in the death of a 32-year-old woman and severe injuries to two children.

The incident occurred after the KIA tried to pass the semi-trailer. The KIA went around the semi-trailer and off the roadway. As the KIA was attempting to overcorrect back into the road, the semi-truck crashed onto the KIA, which ended up sandwiched between the semi-truck and the back of the semi-trailer.

The crash caused a 2-year-old to be ejected from the KIA while still buckled into the car seat. The 2-year-old, along with a 7-year-old child who was also riding on the KIA, were taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in unknown conditions. They suffered major injuries. On the other hand, the semi-truck and the semi-trailer drivers were uninjured.
