Two Teenagers Die in Fatal Early Morning Crash

Two Snyder teenagers died in an early morning crash in late August of 2022. The crash occurred just west of Snyder, and among the deceased were a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old. A man from Hamlin, Texas was also critically injured in the crash.

The crash occurred at about 6:15 a.m. when the 17-year-old was driving his 2021 Nissan Sentra east on U.S. Highway 180 at milepost 381, and suddenly the vehicle crossed the center diving line and struck a westbound 2017 Dodge Durango SUV head-on. Both vehicles caught on fire and were completely burned.

The 17-year-old and 14-year-old, both in the 2021 Nissan Sentra, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was flown to University Medical Center in Lubbock with critical injuries. All three individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.

Snyder Independent School District confirmed in a social media post that the 17-year-old was a senior at Snyder High School and the 14-year-old was an eighth-grader at Snyder Junior High.
