Fatal Car Crash Due to Detached Trailer

The Houston Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred on August 11, 2022, at about 4:35 a.m. near the 12400 block of the North Interstate Highway 45 in Harris County, Texas. A white Mack flatbed truck was traveling northbound when its trailer detached from the truck. A driver of a red Ford Mustang was also traveling northbound and struck the trailer. To avoid the crash, a driver of a beige Ford Ranger veered toward the right and struck the rear of the trailer.  

The Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver of the Ford Ranger deceased at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is verifying the identity of the driver of the Ford Ranger, who was 57 years old at the time of the incident. The driver of the Ford Mustang was transported to a hospital.
