Charges Filed Against Suspect After Fatal Car Crash

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal car crash that occurred near the 2300 South Loop West service road. According to the Houston Police Department (“HPD”) Vehicular Crimes Division, on July 16, 2022, at about 5:45 p.m., a black Infinity EX35 had the green light and was making a left turn from Kirby Drive onto the westbound service road, while a black Honda Pilot was traveling westbound on the service road. A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Honda ran the red light, causing the driver of the Infinity to collide with the Honda.

The driver of the Infinity died at the scene from injuries sustained during the crash. HPD officers evaluated the driver of the Honda, who was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for his role in the crash. The identity of the victim, who was 76 years old at the time of the incident, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
