18-Wheeler Crash Kills 1 and Injures 3 High School Students

Roughly 50 miles east of Dallas, a collision between an 18-wheeler truck and a car left one North Texas high schooler dead and sent three others to the hospital. Wills Point police received a dispatch call late last Tuesday night from the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office about a crash at U.S. Highway 80 and F.M. 2965 in Wills Point, just east of Wills Point High School.

While the driver of the 18-wheeler was evaluated and released at the scene, the accident is still under investigation, and authorities have not provided more information about how the collision occurred. Commercial drivers – among other duties – have an elevated responsibility to maintain a safe speed and proper lookout in order to avoid catastrophic accidents like this from taking place.
