A Houston mother has filed suit against her child’s daycare after her 3-year-old was allegedly sodomized in its care. After picking her son up from the Prince and Princess Daycare on West Airport, the victim’s mother says she noticed he was not the same. It was at bathtime that night that she noticed that her son had green scribbling on his bottom.

The suit alleges that the child was rushed to the emergency room at Texas Children’s Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he was sodomized with the open end of a marker. The young victim was allegedly able to identify, by name, the classmate who had done this to him while they were under the supervision of the daycare.

Unfortunately, the alleged negligence wouldn’t be the Prince and Princess Daycare’s first offense.  In fact, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has cited the daycare 48 times in the last five years. The citations have included instances of caregivers falling asleep while caring for children, caregivers not knowing how many children were at the daycare, children being left unsupervised at the daycare, and caregivers physically disciplining children.

Parents place their trust in daycares every day to protect their children and care for them. It is absolutely unacceptable for incidents like this to happen to our most vulnerable members of society, especially when they are supposed to be under the supervision of a caregiver.
