On April 14, 2022, discount retailer Dollar Tree issued a recall for more than 1 million Crafter’s Square Glue Guns due to fire and burn hazards.  Glue guns are often used in crafting projects because the glue guns create hot glue, which bonds more quickly and strongly than regular glue.  The glue guns are plugged into an outlet to make the glue hot.  However, the recalled glue guns can malfunction when plugged in, which can cause fires and/or burns.  There have been 7 reported incidents to date, including 4 fires.

Dollar Tree advised owners of the recalled glue guns to immediately unplug and stop using the recalled glue guns, which sold for about $1.  The recalled glue guns were sold at Dollar Tree stores nationwide from August 2020 through February 2022 and at Family Dollar stores from January 2022 through February 2022, as well as online at www.dollartree.com from August 2021 through February 2022.  The recalled Crafter’s Square Glue Guns, which were imported from China, are black with an orange trigger and tip and have a silver UL listed label above the handle with “XY-15302” printed on it.
