Fisher-Price Announce Recall of Gliders and Soothers

Fisher-Price and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of Rock ’n Glide Soothers and their 2-in-1 Soothe ’n Play Gliders. The recall involves models CHP56, CHP55, and CBT81 4-in-1 Rock ’n Glides, as well as GDD28, 39, 41, GGW85, GNX 43, GVG43, HBD6, and 27 Sooth ’n Play Gliders. Parents may check the underside of the base for the model number.

Unfortunately, before the recall occurred there were four deaths attributed to the defective gliders and soothers, in 2019 and 2020. Acting Charmain Robert Adler stated “these types of incidents are heart-breaking loving parents put their babies in these products never expecting a tragedy. Inclined products, such as gliders, soothers, rockers, and swings are not safe for infant sleep, due to the risk of suffocation”. Fisher-Price’s general manager has stated that they are committed to better educating and instructing caregivers to ensure the health and safety of infants.

The recalls will include approximately 120,000 4-in-1 Rock ’n Glide Soothers and 55,000 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders. Most of the recalled items were sold at Amazon, Walmart, and Target stores from November 2018 until approximately May 2020.

The Consumer Products Safety Counsel added that they continue to stress the safest place for a baby to sleep is on a firm flat surface such as a crib and that babies should always be placed on their backs.
