On September 29, 2021, an 85-year-old woman, was killed near downtown Houston, when the car that she was a passenger in flew down an embankment.
A black Ford Fusion driver ran a red light and struck a Chevrolet Malibu. The Ford Fusion then crashed through a fence and flew down a freeway embankment, hitting a barrier that stopped the Ford Fusion from entering the I-69 main lanes under I-45. The 85-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Ford, was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
