White Arrow Nocks Recalled by Manufacturer After Almost Two Dozen Serious Injuries Reported

Ravin Crossbows has issued a recall of an all-white plastic molded clip-on nocks used in arrows for the Ravin brand crossbows. These arrows nocks were sold in a package of 12 or in conjunction with Ravin R9 and R15 crossbows.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, if the white nock is not fully engaged with the bowstring, the crossbow can fail to discharge when the trigger is pulled and can result in the bow discharging while re-nocking the arrow, posing an injury hazard to users.

The recall was issued for about 220,000 units which were sold nationwide in stores such as Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, among others. The recalled units were sold between October 2016 through November 2017 for between $8 to $15.

Consumers are advised to stop using the nocks immediately and to contact Ravin Crossbows for a free replacement of orange nocks and up to $1 in merchandise credit for each recalled nock returned.

The manufacturer of the white arrow nocks, Ravin Crossbows LLC, originally issued a recall for these nocks in December 2017 but had to re-issue the recall because of new reports of finger injuries. So far, there are 51 reports of finger injuries while nocking or re-nocking the white nocks, with 21 of those being serious injuries. Ravin Crossbows LLC decided to re-issue the recall because it received 28 new finger injuries since the original recall announcement.
