Settlement Reached For Texas Coach, Back Surgery From Commercial Truck Accident

Not every commercial vehicle crash involves an 18-wheeler. Commercial car accidents can involve accidents caused by any type of company vehicle. This includes company vans, pickup trucks, and small vehicles. These commercial vehicles can still cause severe damage to those injured in these other types of commercial car accidents.

On April 1, 2018, a Texas high school football and track coach was driving behind his family on Easter Sunday. While driving on a two-lane, two-way Texas highway road, a company pickup truck violently rear-ended a small vehicle traveling in the opposite lane. The small car was forced into the coach’s lane right as he was passing, causing a severe head-on collision. The crash was devastating, and multiple people were severely injured.

After hiring Abraham Watkins, the coach was able to focus on receiving comprehensive medical care for his injuries. Back surgery was ultimately needed to alleviate his constant pain, and his livelihood as an active coach was directly impacted. Benny Agosto, Jr. and Lena Laurenzo of Abraham Watkins filed a lawsuit against the driver and the company that owned the pickup truck.

It required extensive digging through the evidence and deposition of the company representative to get to the bottom of the chain of events that led up to this harrowing crash. The evidence pointed to the driver not having a valid driver’s license at the time of the crash. Lena and Benny were able to secure a large settlement for the coach to cover his past medical expenses and provide him significant financial compensation for his injuries.
