Woman Sues Walmart for Defective Tricycle After Sustaining Brain Injury

A woman has sued Walmart and product manufacturer Kent International after purchasing a defective adult tricycle that caused her to crash and suffer a traumatic brain injury. According to the lawsuit, the woman utilized Walmart’s free in-store bike assembly service to put the tricycle together. Upon her first ride, the woman states she was unable to engage the brakes while traveling down a decline toward a roadway intersection. To avoid entering the intersection, the woman was forced to maneuver the tricycle off the road when she abruptly crashed. The crash caused the woman to be thrown over the handlebars and land face-first into the curb and pavement.

According to the lawsuit, the brakes designed for the tricycle were determined to fall below government standards. Moreover, the lawsuit alleges Walmart employees were not properly trained on how to assemble the tricycle and instead were pressured to assemble customer products too quickly.
