Judge Approves $800 Million Settlement for Las Vegas Shooting Victims

On the eve of the mass shooting’s third anniversary, a Nevada judge approved a settlement totaling $800 million from MGM Resorts International and its insurers. The approval comes nearly one year after the initial settlement range was announced, with the approved amount being the maximum. Pursuant to the terms of the settlement, MGM Resorts is to pay $49 million, and the remaining $751 million will be paid by its insurance companies. In the last three years, firm attorneys Mo Aziz and Michelle Rice, have worked tirelessly to help settle the claims of all the firm’s 1,145 clients.

The night of October 1, 2017, would become the worst mass shooting in modern American history. The shooting took the lives of fifty-eight, and injured hundreds attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. The settlement approval brings victims and their families one step closer to the final resolution of this landmark litigation.
