More Than 600,000 Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport Vehicles Have Been Recalled by Honda

More than 1.6 million potential defects have caused Honda to recall more than 600,000 vehicles including Odyssey minivans and Pilot and Passport SUVs. The recalls include faulty door latches, malfunctioning backup cameras, and non-illuminating dashboard lights. Honda will fix these defects free of charge starting on September 23, 2020.

Water can get in between the power sliding door and outer door handle on 2018-2020 Odysseys. The water may then freeze which restricts the door latches. Additionally, water can get into the backup camera's mounting holes on 2019-2020 Odysseys. This causes the display to portray a distorted image or no image at all.

Some 2019-2020 Passports and 2019-2021 Pilots have also had problems with the backup camera. However, the problems on these vehicles are caused by faulty software programming. This issue can be fixed by a software update or by visiting a Honda dealership when the recall starts.

Further, the three Honda models are also being recalled due to failing gauge cluster displays. The displays fail to display things such as engine oil pressure, the speedometer, and the current gear selector position. Dealers will be fixing this issue by reprogramming the vehicles' software.

If you're a Honda owner, you can check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall's website or Honda's owner website to see if your vehicle is involved in one or more of the recalls. No reports of accidents or injuries caused by these defects have yet been made.

If you or someone you know has been injured by a defective Honda vehicle or any defective vehicle, contact an attorney at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto, Aziz, & Stogner by calling 713-396-3964 or toll free at 1-800-594-4884.
