Woman Sues Over Bounce House Incident

Photo of Imrana Manzanares

In 2018, a block party was hosted by Meow Wolf, an arts and entertainment company. A rented bounce house was overturned by the wind and trapped the children of Anita Vargas underneath. While Ms. Vargas has not detailed her children's injuries, her attorney has said the injuries were "serious enough that we felt we need to file a lawsuit." The business that owned the bounce house, Amazing Jumps LLC, is also named in the lawsuit. It is alleged that Amazing Jumps LLC should have known the inflatable bounce house, which was in the shape of a castle, was dangerous because it was not properly secured.

Immediately after the incident, Ms. Vargas posted a picture on Facebook of her son, which showed his bloody and bruised face. She stated that he had "lots of scrapes [and] bruises and a broken nose." Ms. Vargas went on to say that her children "will never be the same from this."

At the time of the incident, a representative for Meow Wolf claimed the accident was caused by a "dust devil" and added "As a token of our condolences to all the families and kids that were impacted by this dust devil, we will be offering lifetime passes to Meow Wolf for those families while we look further into this situation."

When someone is injured or dies in an accident, financial recovery may be available. Such recovery is particularly important when permanent, life changing injuries are incurred. It is important to contact someone who understands the intricacies of the injured party's right to recover.

Abraham Watkins offers a free consultation to anyone wishing to pursue a claim for such injuries or fatalities.
