Pressure Cooker Causes Burn Injuries: Company Alleged to Have Misrepresented Safety

Photo of Lena B. Laurenzo

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people have been cooking and eating more meals at home. Some people have also been buying new cooking gadgets and appliances, including pressure cookers, to accommodate this new need to cook more at home.

It is important for consumers to understand and to be aware that defective pressure cookers can cause catastrophic and life-altering injuries. One example of a brand of pressure cookers recently alleged to be dangerous and defective is the NuWave Nutri-Pot pressure cooker manufactured by NuWave, LLC. Lawsuits have been filed alleging that the company misrepresented the safety of the product to consumers. The lid of these specific pressure cookers can be opened while the pressure cooker is still in use, exposing a serious risk for burn injuries from the pressurized hot food that can eject from the cooker onto people nearby.

When consumers or users of a defective product are injured and have a product liability claim, it is important for them to hold onto the defective product so it can be examined by experts. Product liability claims are not simple cases and should be handled by experienced attorneys that have the power and resources to go to battle with the manufacturers and retailers of defective products.

If you or someone you know has been injured or burned after using a product, please contact an attorney at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner by calling 713-396-3964 or toll free at 1-800-594-4884.
