Another Chemical Plant Fire in Harris County Causes Injuries

Just after 11 a.m. on April 2, 2019, a fire erupted at the KMCO chemical plant in Crosby, forcing the Crosby, Sheldon and Channelview ISDs to each issue a shelter in place for their students and faculty. This plant is located in East Harris County on Ramsey Road just off of Hwy. 90.

It is confirmed that at least one person has died and two others have been taken by Life Flight to area hospitals, and it is reported that a number of workers have been injured while evacuating the plant at the time of the explosion. At this time, the chemicals/products being emitted into the atmosphere have not been identified.
