Wrongful Death Suits Filed in Wake of Santa Fe Shootings

The parents of Jake Stone, a student killed during the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School last month, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Galveston County against the alleged gunman’s parents. Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Kosmetatos are the parents of Dimitrios Pagourtzis who is the accused gunman of the mass shooting that left at least 10 dead and 13 injured. Dimitrios is currently sitting in Galveston County jail awaiting trial.

Jake’s parents, Christopher Stone and Rosie Yanas, allege in their lawsuit negligence and gross negligence of both Dimitrios’ parents. Specifically, they allege that the parents were negligent and grossly negligent for failing to properly secure their weapons, permitting their minor son access to their weapons and ammunition, and failing to warn and get mental health counseling for their son. The lawsuit is seeking over $1 million in damages.

Since the lawsuit was filed, several other families of the slain students intervened and joined the suit, including the family of Aaron McLeod, Jared Black, and Christian Garcia.
