Wrongful Death Suit Filed Against Hit and Run Driver

On the night of January 23, 2017, Thomas "Tommy" Ketterhagen was reported missing by his family in Georgetown, Texas. He was last seen cycling on the shoulder of the road along the 2300 block of Patriot Way. After searching for him all night, his mother found his body and parts of his bicycle in the grass on the side of the road the next morning.

Reports indicate a witness saw a dark blue pick-up truck driving erratically down Patriot Way that evening. The witness said he saw the truck drive into the opposite lane and strike a bicycle. Although he could not tell if anyone was on the bicycle, he did see two people get out of the vehicle and look around the ditch before getting back into the truck and accelerating out of the area. A few days later, Aaron Richard Davison turned himself in and was charged in connection to Tommy's death.

A year after the incident, Davison pled guilty to manslaughter and accident involving death and was sentenced to two years in prison and ten years of probation. Less than three weeks after sentencing, Davison was released from prison due to 404 days of credit given to him for time he had already served. Tommy's parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Davison and the passenger in his truck, Cody Crow. They are seeking more than $1 million in damages.
