Confidential Settlement Reached in Light Sport Aircraft Death Case

Firm attorney Benny Agosto, Jr. has reached a confidential settlement on behalf of the widow of Johnny Johnson regarding a crash that occurred on February 1, 2016. The settlement brings a favorable end to the widow’s wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for the death of her husband-a loving husband, father, and renowned flight instructor-that occurred when the light sport aircraft he was piloting crashed upon takeoff.

The deceased, Johnny Johnson, was a flight instructor teaching a student in a model Tecnam P92 Echo Super single-engine, two-seater plane. The plane had just taken off, when something went wrong and caused the plane to veer out of control. The plane violently hit the ground and burst into flames. Mr. Johnson died in the wreckage, and the student was able to crawl out and save himself. The sequence of events that transpired and ultimately ended in a crash, has been terrifying and frightening for Mr. Johnson’s family.

Through persistent efforts, the attorney for Mr. Johnson’s widow was able to reach a confidential settlement alleging the flight school was negligent for failing to properly inspect, maintain, and/or repair its equipment. Although the total amount is confidential, the settlement reached provides a just resolution for their client.
