Two Crashes-One Fatal-Shuts Down 610 North Loop

On December 19, 2017, around 5:45 a.m. all westbound main lanes of the 610 North Loop between I-45 and Airline were shut down after two early morning crashes involving five vehicles. One of those crashes, left one person dead.

The first crashed involved a red GMC pickup truck that was traveling from I-45 onto 610 North Loop where the two freeways meet. The driver of that truck was speeding and lost control, crossing a grassy median into the westbound lanes of traffic. A dump truck then T-boned the red GMC pickup, killing the driver. The driver, who police say was at fault for the wreck, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say a second crash also occurred that morning as vehicles were stopping behind the first wreck. That second crashed occurred when an 18-wheeler rear-ended an SUV pushing it into a black pickup. No word if anyone in that second crash was hurt.
