Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion

A massive explosion along a natural gas pipeline shook houses as far as 60 miles away in Refugio County, Texas last week. The cause of the initial fire that led to the explosion is still under investigation, and no injuries have been reported. The explosion and resulting fireball were reportedly so intense that the light could be seen over 150 miles away.

While this explosion luckily occurred in the middle of the night without any employees or residents nearby, the risks and dangers presented by volatile oil and gas pipelines and refineries cannot be understated. Every year, hundreds of individuals are injured or killed due to accidents involving oil and natural gas pipelines and refineries. Due to the heavy presence of these energy companies throughout Texas, many Texas residents can find themselves unwilling victims of a nearby explosion.
