OSHA Safety Regulations Ignored as Injuries and Deaths Increase

Firm partner Benny Agosto, Jr. filed a new lawsuit on behalf of the wife and family of a worker who lost his life in an excavation/trench collapse earlier this year. The man’s employer has been sued for gross negligence in the lawsuit filed by Mr. Agosto.

Earlier in the year and prior to the date of this incident, Principal Services, the employer, had been under investigation by OSHA for violations of the very OSHA regulations enacted to protect workers from injury or death while working in trenches.

It has been reported that 23 workers have been killed and 12 others injured in trench collapses so far in 2016, and alarming increase from the previous year.

OSHA assistant secretary, Dr. David Michaels, recently stated that “there is no excuse, these fatalities are completely preventable by complying with OSHA standards that every construction contractor should know.”
