Southwest Airlines Jet Goes Off Tennessee Runway

At least 8 people were said to have been injured on Tuesday December 15, 2015 after a Southwest Airlines plane skid off the runway after landing at Nashville International Airport.

“At approximately 5:20pm local time, the plane exited the taxiway shortly after arriving into Nashville, as the airplane was approaching the arrival gate. The 133 passengers and five crewmembers were safely evacuated from the plane and bussed into the airport. Local EMS paramedics were on site to check customers and reports indicate that eight passengers were transported to a local hospital; three have been evaluated and released”, according to a statement released by Southwest

A report released by ABC news stated that the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident and cited a statement released by the FAA saying “Southwest Airlines 31, a Boeing 737 aircraft, rolled off a taxiway into the grass and got stuck while taxiing to its gate at Nashville International Airport at 5:30pm Central Time. Passengers left the aircraft via stairs and were bussed to the terminal.”
