FELT Bicycle Recall

On December 02, 2014, the California based bicyclical company FELT issued a safety recall on two of their cyclocross bicycles. Both the 2015 F65X and F85X have been recalled due to defects with the frame of the bicycle. The frame on the bicycle may potentially weaken and crack or even break when put through the regular stress of everyday riding. This could lead to serious injury due to the rider loosing control of the bike resulting in a fall.

Both the F65X and the F85X come standard with a superlight custom aluminum frame. These frames are held together with Dynaform TIG-welded construction. Due to the lightweight aluminum frame construction, the two bikes weigh in at less than 11 kilograms. The F65X retail price is listed on the FELT website for $1,499.00 and the F85X retails for $1,199.00. FELT advertises both bicycles as multiuse, meaning they should perform equally well when ridden on rough terrain or on the road.

Fortunately, as of yet there have been no injuries reported due to the fame issues associated with this recall. FELT recommends that owns of either of the F65X or the F85X bring their bike into their local FELT dealer where they purchased the bicycle, or the nearest FELT dealer, to have the fame inspected and if necessary receive a frame replacement. Both the inspection and the frame replacement are free of cost to the consumer. FELT is available to answer any questions regarding this recall and can be reached by phone, toll free at (866) 433-5887.
