Texas bakery owner killed in head-on dump truck accident

A community in Texas is mourning the death of a beloved businessman after he was killed by a dump truck. The victim, who owned the Del Norte Bakery in Dallas, died in the fatal truck accident when the dump truck plowed over the median and struck his pickup truck head-on. The driver of the dump truck also perished in the accident.

Even though the driver of the commercial vehicle perished, it still may be possible for family members of the victim to file a suit against the at-fault driver's employer. The company itself may have insurance coverage designed to compensate for wrongful death because of a truck accident. A Texas attorney may be able to help families of such victims learn more about their options.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine the cause of the Valentine's Day accident. The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is continuing an inquiry into the matter.

Community members say the family man and beloved business owner was hard worker. Many described him as a kind of father figure. Employees at the bakery say the man had a presence in the community because of his good attitude and friendly business. Sadly, the victim had just celebrated his birthday in the week preceding the wreck.

Families who have suffered through the loss of a loved one because of a truck accident may benefit from financial compensation handed down through a civil suit. A Texas attorney may be able to provide additional information so family members can make educated choices about their civil cases. Damages may be recovered in such cases for pain and suffering, emotional distress and a variety of other civil claims.
