Alleged Drunk Driver Causes Accident

At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Sunday morning, a silver Cadillac rear ended a Honda Accord that was about to exit Airport Road on Texas 288. The driver of the Accord and a toddler who was in the car were taken to the hospital. A 12-year-old passenger who was sitting in the back and the front seat passenger died at the scene of the collision.

Authorities indicated the driver of the Cadillac showed signs of intoxication and may be facing charges of intoxication manslaughter. Section 49.08 of the Texas Penal Code defines intoxication manslaughter as an offense that is committed when a person operates a motor vehicle in a public place and "is intoxicated and by reason of that intoxication causes the death of another by accident or mistake."

Unfortunately, the driver of the Cadillac appears to have made a bad decision to drink and drive and that decision resulted in death and serious injuries. When someone is injured or dies in an auto collision, financial recovery can often be made against the offending driver. Such recovery is particularly important when permanent, life changing injuries are incurred. It is imperative to contact someone who understands the intricacies of the injured party's right to recover.

Abraham Watkins offers a free consultation to anyone wishing to pursue a claim for injuries that occurred as a result of a drunk driver or alcohol-related accident.
