4-year-old killed in Plano car accident

A Texas girl died in a car crash in Plano on Jan. 11. The 4-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital after the car accident. Three other victims suffered only minor injuries in the fatal crash.

The collision occurred on U.S. Highway 75. Witnesses said a sedan was struck by a truck that was swerving to avoid striking a vehicle that had stopped in its path. The pickup truck went into the highway's HOV lane, smashing into the family's vehicle. That sedan struck a highway barrier before running into a light pole. The vehicle flipped over in the crash.

None of the five people inside the pickup truck suffered injury. The crash is still being investigated. Alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the crash. Further, all vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts or restrained in child safety seats.

No family should have to endure the pain and suffering that accompanies the loss of a child. The at-fault party in this case should be required to pay civil damages to the surviving victims. Financial compensation for car accident personal injuries can include medical costs and expenses associated with prolonged disability. Surviving family members may also seek compensation for wrongful death and loss of consort. That last claim is used to recover damages because the family will no longer be able to interact with the decedent.

Texas personal injury attorneys can provide advice and assistance for car accident victims. These professionals can educate victims about their legal rights and responsibilities. Further, in some cases they are able to obtain appropriate and quick financial compensation for those victims.
