Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision in Houston

Driving a vehicle of any sort requires diligence on the driver's part, which is only possible for drivers who aren't under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When an impaired driver doesn't follow traffic laws, car accidents can occur. Some of those accidents can cause severe injury, and others may end in death. Houston residents might be interested to learn about a head-on collision on Katy Freeway that killed a motorcyclist.

A female driver in a white Nissan Maxima hit a motorcyclist head-on after she entered Katy Freeway via an exit ramp and proceeded to drive the wrong way on this section of Interstate 10. The 58-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. The female driver was also injured in the suspected drunk driving accident. She was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. The female driver is suspected of driving while intoxicated. She is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter as a result of the accident, according to investigators.

Car accidents involving motorcycles are almost always very serious accidents. When the accident involves a drunk driver, the results may prove to be fatal. The impaired driver will usually have to face the criminal justice system for the drunk driving accident. In some cases, the family of the victim of the drunk driving crash might be able to seek compensation from the drunk driver. Houston legal professionals can help the victim's family member decide on a course of civil action and can also help to navigate through the court system necessary to seek compensation.
