Wrong-way accident injured 1; driver charged with DUI

We all know that it is never a good idea to drive while impaired. Drinking alcohol can cause slower reflexes and dull cognitive function. A driver who has traveled a street a hundred times sober could find themselves confused if they are under the influence of alcohol. That confusion can lead to a driver error and in the worst situations, drunk driving accidents. Our readers in Houston might be able to relate to an accident in another part of the country where an accident could have been the result of this type of confusion.

In Seattle, Washington, a 22-year-old woman has been accused of driving under the influence after an accident on I-5. The Nov. 17 incident took place when the woman was driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway. Her black pickup truck struck a Ford Edge. The force of the collision toppled the Edge onto its roof.

The driver of the Edge, a 50-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The passengers in the overturned vehicle were not hurt. The woman and her passenger in the pickup truck were also uninjured.

The woman who allegedly caused the accident could be facing a serious charge that could result in fines, jail time and the loss of her license. Her exact consequences will depend on whether this is a first offense or if she has had previous legal issues. But regardless of her criminal case, she could still be held financially liable for the accident.

Anyone who is a victim of an accident has a right to seek compensation for losses and injuries sustained due to no fault of their own. A legal professional experienced in handling these types of situations can help anyone who is considering this solution determine if it is the best course of action for them.
