Woman faces charges after fatal collision

Accidents that result in injuries and death are tragic events. Anyone who is a victim of such an accident can seek compensations for their injuries. For those who succumb from injuries in such an accident, their family members can also seek compensation for expenses and other damages. A woman who authorities state caused an accident that killed one and injured another had one of what will most likely be several appearances in court regarding the fatal car accident.

The accident happened on Oct. 15. The woman got on a highway driving the wrong way and slammed head-on into another vehicle driven by a 20-year-old woman. The woman died from her injuries. A man on a motorcycle also collided with the cars involved in the first collision. The motorcycle driver suffered a broken leg.

When authorities attempted to question the woman, she could not explain where she was or how she got there. She did admit to drinking at happy hour and at that she was on her way to meet someone for dinner. Authorities did a blood draw and took the woman into custody. She has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. Depending on the toxicology reports, the charges could change based on what is found in the woman’s system.

The family of the woman who was killed, as well as the injured motorcycle driver, are well within their rights to seek compensation. They can pursue reimbursement for medical bills, final expenses, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship. An experienced legal professional who has dealt with these types of personal injury cases can help a family struggling with such a tragic loss determine their rights and can assist in deciding whether pursuing compensation for the loss of their loved one.
