Our Firm Celebrates 2013 National Hispanic Heritage Month

The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month which kicked off September 15 and runs through October 15. This is a special time to celebrate the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Hispanics make up almost 40% of the Texas population and their influence to this state is evident in Texas history.

The celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 when President Lyndon B. Johnson introduced Hispanic Heritage Week, which was then extended by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to a month.

September 15 was chosen as their starting date because the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua all celebrate their independence on this day. Followed by, Mexico, Chile and Belize celebrating their Independence Day on September 16, September 18, and September 21, respectively.
