A 74-year-old woman who received serious injuries in a bus rollover accident on the George Bush Turnpike in Dallas has filed a lawsuit against the owner and operator of the tour bus, Cardinal Coach Line. The woman broke several ribs in the commercial bus accident that killed at least two passengers and injured dozens more.
Many of the victims of the Highway 161 bus crash in Irving are home recuperating with family and friends while investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Texas Department of Public Safety are looking for clues as to what went wrong. Personal belongings that were left behind on the tour bus during the evacuation can be retrieved from Jordan Towing.
The attorney for the 74-year-old woman says that it was necessary to file suit quickly so that his team could be involved in the investigation of the cause of the crash, along with federal and state authorities.
This is not the first fatal accident for the driver of the Cardinal Coach Line tour bus. The 65-year-old driver was at the helm of a bus that ran over a good Samaritan in 1998. A grand jury investigated the deadly crash 15 years ago but declined to indict the bus driver on any criminal charges.
Cardinal Coach Line carried only the minimum required insurance coverage – $5 million – for a commercial bus operation of its size.
