Recall of Several Popular Subaru Vehicles

The International Business Times reported that Subaru has recalled almost 634,000 vehicles, including late model Outback and Legacy cars (2010 and 2011) and Tribeca (2006-2012) and Forester (2009-2012) SUVs. According to sources at Subaru, the “puddle lights” on these vehicles, when exposed to moisture from certain road water spray, can short circuit. This could cause enough heat to melt the plastic in the mirror housings and result in smoke or a fire. No accidents or injuries have been reported – only one report of smoke.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that Subaru will begin repairs (installing an additional fuse) to the recalled vehicles in February 2013 at no cost to the vehicle owners.
