Implus Footcare Recalls Resistance Bands Due to Injury Hazard

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Implus Footcare has recalled their Perfect Resistance Bands due to an injury hazard. The Perfect Resistance Bands are rubber tubes connected through a hole and secured by grommets to cloth sewn into loops. The resistance bands can be used alone or in conjunction with optional handles, which are sold separately. The bands are approximately 40 inches long and are used for exercises described on the product packaging card as well as in a Workout Chart available on Implus Footcare's website. The recall was prompted by reports that the resistance bands are able to detach from the mesh cloth loops, posing an injury hazard to the user as well as those in the surrounding vicinity.

The recall covers 75,600 units, including Perfect Bands Heavy 25 pound capacity, Very Heavy 30 pound capacity, and Ultra Heavy 40 pound capacity. The Implus Footcare Perfect Resistance Bands were sold at Wal-Mart and online at www.perfectonline.com. Implus Footcare officials say that they have received 11 reports of injuries. In addition, the CPSC reports that it has received one incident report. According to reports, all of the incidents involved injuries to the back, hand, and eye. However, none of the reported incidents involved serious injuries and only one incident required medical attention.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has instructed consumers to stop using the recalled resistance bands immediately and contact Implus Footcare for a refund or a replacement product.
