Recent Ford Motor Company Recalls

In another safety related recall, Ford Motor Company is recalling over 73,000 Ford Escape compact sport-utility vehicles, as well as over 15,000 Ford Fusion midsize sedans. This recall involves the 2013 model year and it is reported that these vehicles can have overheating problems that causes engine fires. This recall closely follows Ford's recall of certain 2013 Escapes which reported having fuel leaks, coolant leaks, and carpet that interfered with the gas and brake pedals.

The current recall includes Escape SE and SEL models, and Fusion SE and SEL models that have a 1.6 L engine. The recall is limited to this particular engine, and does not apply to these models that have different engines. While the company has not reported any injuries related to the problem, Ford is requesting that customers driving these models contact their dealership immediately, and they can arrange for alternative transportation at no charge.

It has been noted by drivers who have experienced the problem that their vehicles' information gauges have displayed a warning message including "Engine Power Reduced to Lower Temps" or "Engine over temp, stop safely." There have also been reports that the vehicle made an audible sound similar to warning chimes or red warning lights were illuminated.

United States Ford owners of these vehicles may call 866-436-7332 for more information, and Canadian customers may call 888-222-7814. As of now, the necessary repair procedures are not yet available, but owners should contact their dealerships immediately anyway.

If you or someone you know has been harmed by a recalled vehicle, contact the attorneys at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend by calling 713-396-3964 or 1-800-594-4884.
