Recalled Products: 10 Consumer Products Often Still in the Home

Did you know that only about 10 percent of recalled products are actually returned or repaired? This means that 90 percent of products with known defects remain in people's homes. And many of these defective products can result in serious injury or even death.

Time Magazine recently put out a list of the 10 most common dangerous products that people may still have in their homes. We encourage you to review the list below and check whether one of these dangerous products may still be in use in your home.

  • LG Electronics Dehumidifiers, specifically Goldstar and Comfort-Aire models sold in 2007 and 2008 at Home Depot, Walmart and Ace Hardware
  • Drop-side cribs - all brands have been recalled due to a design defect
  • Auto Fire Target Set (toy dart gun set) sold at Family Dollar Stores
  • Gel fuel used in outdoor fire pots
  • Roman shade and roll-up blinds made in 2009 or before
  • Magnetix building sets for kids
  • Macalaren strollers sold between 1999 and 2009
  • Maytag dishwashers that were sold under the following brand names: Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa and Crosley
  • Lasko and Galaxy box fans sold between 2002 and 2005
  • Bumbo baby seats

If you have any of these products or think that you might have another item that has been recalled, go to to find out about what steps to take. Stop using the product immediately.

And in the event that you or a loved one are injured by a recalled product - even if you knew it was recalled but failed to act - you still have the right to pursue a product liability lawsuit.

A potential injury lawsuit is not eliminated simply because you didn't know about a recall or because you failed to take action. The companies that made and sold the products are still responsible for putting a dangerous product on the market in the first place. And the fact that a product was recalled shows that the manufacturer is aware of the problem - which may, in fact, make it easier to prove a product liability claim. Talk to an experienced personal injury attorney about your specific situation in order to determine how to move forward.
