IKEA Recalls Track Lighting System Due to Electric Shock Hazard

Photo of Muhammad Aziz

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with IKEA, announced a voluntary recall of a track lighting system sold exclusively at IKEA stores because of an electric shock hazard.

The Swedish company, known for its low-cost, do-it-yourself furnishings, is recalling about 5,000 units of its 365+ SÄNDA track lighting system. The ground connection in the track system is defective and poses an electric shock hazard.

The white, straight track systems are used to hold and power light fixtures. The recalled tracks are 28 inches and 45 inches long. The recalled tracks are model numbers 00149242 and 10149246, supplier number 21338 and date stamp 1134 through 1213. The tracks were made in China and sold in IKEA stores nationwide between September 2011 and March 2012.

Customers are advised to immediately stop using the track lighting system and return it to any IKEA store for a replacement unit or a full refund. For additional information, contact IKEA toll-free at (888) 966-4532 or visit the firm's website at www.ikea-usa.com.

If you or someone you know has been harmed by a recalled product, contact the attorneys at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend by calling 713-222-7211 or 1-800-870-9584.
