Another Recall for Honda

According to USA Today, Honda announced that it is recalling nearly 1,500 of its 2006-model CR-V crossover SUVs. This recall is the result of a faulty part that could cause the vehicle to go out of control. The manufacturer states that the right-front lower control arm on some models was improperly welded and could potentially break. If the control arm, which is part of the suspension and steering system, breaks the vehicle could lose control causing serious injuries and even death. The official statement from Honda is below.

Honda's statement:

"Honda will voluntarily recall 1,316 model-year 2006 CR-V vehicles in the United States to inspect and, if necessary, replace the right-front lower control arm. Over time and with extended use, an improper welding process used when manufacturing the control arm may allow the right-front lower control arm to break at the weld.

If the lower control arm breaks, vehicle handling could be affected, increasing the risk of a crash. No accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected models to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall. Mailed notification to customers will begin mid-April of 2012. Owners of these models are also able to determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4.

All owners of the 2006 Honda CR-V should take their vehicles to a dealership immediately for repairs. It is also recommended to confirm with the dealership that all necessary repairs were performed.

If you or someone you know has been harmed by a recalled vehicle, contact the attorneys at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend by calling 713-396-3964 or 1-800-594-4884.
