Honda Recall Due to Faulty Airbags

Photo of Randy Sorrels

Honda has again recalled more of its vehicles as a result of airbags that may inflate with too much pressure in the event of a crash and deployment. Reports indicate that dangerous pieces may fly out upon deployment causing injuries or death to its passengers. The latest December 2011 recall involves 304,000 vehicles, including the Honda Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Pilot, CR-V, and several other models made between 2001-2003.

Honda has indicated there has been at least 20 events associated with this faulty airbag deployment issue and has determined there have been at least 2 deaths in the United States - probably occurring in 2009. This recall began back in 2008 and was again instigated in 2009 and 2010. All total, the recall of the vehicles now covers about 2,000,000 vehicles worldwide.

The current explanation for the defect is there was an improper use of a material and a chemical used to deploy the airbags. Consumers should immediately return their vehicle to a Honda dealership to address the issue. Our law firm has handled these product defect cases and wrongful death cases in the past, and can provide any consumers who have questions with answers.
