Tragic Morning Rush Hour Accident in North Houston

Dealing with morning rush hour traffic is usually one of the least favorite parts of a commuter's day. And while regular traffic flow patterns are bad enough, accidents in rush hour traffic further clog city highways. While many times these accidents are a matter of someone simply following too close, resulting in a minor fender bender, unfortunately sometimes the accidents can be fatal. A car accident this morning in North Houston proved to be just that.

This morning, on the frontage road of the Eastex Freeway near East Mt Houston Road - in the southbound lanes - an Oldsmobile was rear-ended in a high-speed collision. Police officers believe that a 31-year-old driver was speeding just off U.S. Highway 59 when he collided with the Oldsmobile. The Oldsmobile was transporting a 43-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife.

The woman died at the scene. The 31-year-old driver and the 43-year-old man were both transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.

At the time of this post, the frontage road remains closed while police investigate the fatal rear-end collision. According to ABC13.com, police are still on the scene and while the investigation remains underway, it is suspected that alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
