Last Saturday, at just before six in the evening, there was a fatal car accident on the 610 Loop in Houston. A 34-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were killed in the crash when they were ejected from the vehicle in which they were riding. Four others were rushed to Memorial Herman-Texas Medical Center and with what are reported to be non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Houston Police Department, a 27-year-old Houston man has now been arrested and charged with two counts of an accident involving an injury. He is now being held in the Harris County jail, in lieu of $200,000 for bail.

The accident occurred on the Loop near the Ship Channel Bridge. According to a report in the Houston Chronicle, the victims were occupants in a van travelling north on the East Loop. The 27-year-old man who has been charged was driving a Chrysler Sebring. The Man reportedly made an unsafe lane change and collided with the van.

The driver of the van, in an attempt to avoid the collision, had tried to swerve out of the way. Unfortunately the van crashed into a concrete wall along the outside of the bridge. The woman and young boy were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Sebring and a passenger fled the scene after the crash. After the police had identified him as the driver and tracked him down, police say that he admitted to them that he was driving the car.
