On October 23, 2010 the Institute of Hispanic Culture celebrated its 45th Annual Noche de Las Américas Gala. The law firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend is happy to be one of the sponsors of this historic celebration. This black-tie fundraiser celebrated the court of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella and the expedition of Christopher Columbus, which introduced the Hispanic culture and language to the Americas. Benny and Nikki Agosto held the honorary titles of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella at this year's gala.

In the spirit of exploration and discovery, honored guests this year included: Congressman John Culberson, the successor to George H. W. Bush as the third representative of the 7th Congressional District of Texas; Justice Eva Guzman, the first Latina to serve on the Supreme Court of Texas; Dr. Mauro Ferrari, President and CEO of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute and leader of the National Cancer Institute's program in Nanotechnology; and Johnny Rodriguez, the first Hispanic artist to grace the country music charts.
The Institute of Hispanic Culture is one of Houston's oldest cultural organizations and disseminates Hispanic arts, literature, and culture through its cultural and scholarship programs. The organization has awarded over $1,500,000 in scholarships to students and teachers who pursue higher education in Hispanic Language and culture.
