1 worker killed, 1 injured in tram accident at Bush airport

One worker was killed and another injured in an accident along the tracks of an elevated train at Bush Intercontinental Airport late this morning.

The incident occurred about 11:40 a.m. on the track near a maintenance facility between the Marriott Hotel and Terminal B, said Marlene McClinton, spokeswoman for the Houston Airport System.

McClinton said the contractors were working on the newly opened track.

No one was aboard the electronic automated people mover which has a maximum speed of 33 mph. Officials don’t know how fast it was moving at the time of the collision.

The automated people mover began operating about three weeks ago.
