Toyota’s Recall for Sticking Gas Pedals is NOT WORKING

New reports are surfacing that the massive recall issued to correct the sticking gas pedal issue in Toyota vehicles is not working. By now, nearly everyone is aware of the reported problems in certain Toyota vehicles where the vehicles are accelerating on their own and out of control. Toyota has issued recalls for the floor mats and the gas pedals, which was supposed to alleviate the sudden acceleration problems. However, there at least 15 cases where Toyota drivers have reported that the sudden acceleration problems are continuing, even after having their vehicles “fixed.”

The new reports to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) are indicating that the cause of the sudden acceleration may be electronic and not due to physical problems with the floor mats, gas pedals, or due to the drivers. These new reports come after Toyota has recalled over 8 million vehicles since October of 2009. According to the NHTSA, to date, 52 people have died in the United States as a result of the sudden acceleration problem with Toyota vehicles. This defect is a serious safety issue. The NHTSA is now contacting people who have issued complaints regarding the sudden acceleration after their vehicle was “repaired.”

For those of you driving the vehicles covered by the recall, or any Toyota vehicle, you need to be aware of the recent reports. For those of you who have even had his or her vehicle recalled and repaired, take heed that the problems may not be over.
